…been ill since 8th July with tonsillitis.

Two children, (brothers) are absent as contacts of poliomyelitis. Their sister has the disease. The local health department & county health department were both informed.

22 July 1954

Mr. Ward, Assistant Director, visited school in connection with post of special responsibility.

23 July 1954

Mrs. A. Dawson and Mrs. M. Lamb finished work as supply teachers. School closed at 3.30 p.m. for the summer holiday.

1 September 1954

School re-opened this morning. Mrs. C. Carruthers began work as a Supply Teacher. During the holiday the external woodwork of the school has been painted.

6 September 1954

The monthly circular for September has been read by all teachers.

13 September 1954

Mrs. C. Carruthers has leave of absence to visit Liverpool on business connected with death of her husband while at sea
