School closed to-day for Xmas holiday.

Resumption postponed until Wednesday, 7th inst, owing to break-down of heating apparatus.

School re-opened this morning. During the recess 15 children have left the School, 5 of these owing to transfer to the new R.C. School, 2 owing to removal from district, and 8 have left to work. Four children were admitted this morning. The number on the books is now 282. Miss Annie & Hilda Robson, (Uncerty) took up her appointment on the staff of the school, in place of Mrs Kelly temporarily appointed from 1.11.13 to 18.12.13. Mary L Stoker (Uncerty St 2.) absent this morning owing to illness.

James Gibson (St 6.) arrived at 9.20, his cycle having broken down on road from Newcastle.

Number of children present this morning = 237, number on books = 279. The serious decline in the attendance is due to an outbreak of measles.
