…advertising a Road Safety meeting in the Priory Theatre on June 10th. These leaflets were to be taken to parents.

7 June 1951

I am informed by Mrs Laidlaw of 4 Marden Crescent, Whitley Bay that her son Alan Laidlaw, who is a pupil of this School, died yesterday after being involved in a serious accident with a shooting brake on the evening of 4.6.51. Alan was riding a bicycle. A letter of sympathy has been sent on behalf of the School, Staff & myself.

8 June 1951

School Attendance for the week is 93%.

11 June 1951

A wreath from the School Staff was sent to the funeral of Alan Laidlaw. See 7.6.51.

12 June 1951

July Circular received today & read by each member of Staff who initialled it.

15 June 1951

I receive notice, via Mr. J.H. Baglee (School Correspondent) that the number of Staff will be reduced by one beginning next School Year (ie. commencing Sept. 1951.). This is due to the declining numbers of children on the School Roll.
School attendance this week is 93.0%.
