Whitley South Council School (Temporary)
Copy of report made by H. M. I. Mr Boutflower. after visit of 15th and 16th June 1908.
Junior Mixed and Infants.
"The mistress and her staff have worked hard to make this new school a success; the children are attentive and respond eagerly and the progress made is in many respects very creditable. There are several children who are old for their position in the school, a fact which is apparently due to the late age at which many start their school life; under these circumstances special vigilance in the matter of promotion is necessary and a small transfer of children at the half year will probably be found desirable.
For reading some additional story readers are needed; more might be done to awaken interest in the subject matter of the reading books, and to train the children to appreciate what they read.
